Best wineries to see in a short period of time??

I am going to Sonoma for the first time in July with my boyfriend and have a Friday and Saturday morning for wine tasting. I was thinking the following although I would love any advice (since I have just started exploring wines and leaving behind the days of the college boxed variety - I am sure making you all shudder.) We wanted a good variety in terms of wines and exerpiences. We are staying at the Inn at Sonoma and planning to rent a limo to take us around on Friday. A good variety? Help!!!

Friday:

Benziger (tour)

Imagery

Gundlach Bundschu (bring picnic lunch and eat here)

Gloria Ferrer

Saturday:

Bartholomew Park

Sabastiani

Other ones we were considernig were Nicholson Ranch, Chateau St. Jean

Thank you!

Chateau St. Jean is very nice, especially if you like really great white wines. I would also add Ledson for their incredible Zin and Kenwood which is a nice, relaxed place with fairly inexpensive wines. I love their Vintage White which is the signature wine of the Sonoma Mission Inn where we stay, it sells for under $10 at Kenwood. Nice list, have fun! :)

Great, thanks so much syrahgirl! We will plan on checking out Ledson as well and Chateau St Jean if we have time.

Does anyone know if we should plan on making reservations?

Are these places too far apart to all do on one day (the friday lineup?)

I don%26#39;t know about reservations for wine tasting, but make reservations for your lodging %26lt;right now%26gt;. Don%26#39;t delay.

The Sonoma Valley is only 18 miles long. so distance between wineries is not much of an issue. However, you will want a map of the wineries, if you don%26#39;t have one already. %26lt;%26lt;sonomavalley.org %26gt;%26gt; is the website for the Sonoma Valley Visitor%26#39;s Bureau I believe. They can send you information. They are located in the old stone Carnegie library in the Plaza if you need help from them after you arrive.

Picnic supples are available at the Cheese Factory on the Sonoma Plaza, and at the market in Glen Ellen, which may be more convenient.

Have fun.
