Walking San Francisco

Is it a doable walk from the Omni to the Golden Gate Bridge or will the hills completely exhaust us. How long would it take to leisuely walk around the hills all along the Embarcadero to Crissy Field?

1 hour + walks are common for my wife %26amp; I......although usually on level ground.

Thanks

The leisurely walk along the embarcadero is lovely and about 30 minutes. Omni to the Golden Gate bridge-no way. Take a cable car to fisherman%26#39;s wharf and you can walk from there, you%26#39;ll still get your exercise, but it%26#39;s doable. The hills here are not to be underestimated.....

Walking San Francisco

You can do this if you allow a couple of hours. Walk north on Montgomery to Columbus. Bear left and follow Columbus to Leavenworth. Columbus rises fairly gently and descends in a similar fashion. This takes you through North Beach. Walk north on Leavenworth 1 1/2 blocks to Jefferson. Turn west by the Cannery. This takes you to Aquatic Park. Follow the bayfront as it goes past Muni Pier and west into Ft Mason. Follow the trail which will lead to the Marina Green with its harbor. Keep going and you will enter the Presidio (near Palace of Fine Art) You are then at Crissy Field. Everything after the crest on Columbus is downhill or flat, except one rise of 60%26#39; in Ft Mason. If you feel frisky go all the way to Ft Point, then climb 200%26#39; to the toll plaza and take a bus back.

Another alternative is to rent a bike and ride all the way.

girasol%26#39;s route is excellent. There are no hills, by our standards, but there are slight grades. For details, please take a look at the WALKER/BICYCLIST map linked to The FLAG/MAPS page geocities.com/iconoc/Grafix/FlagMaps.html has links to the best on-line MAP of San Francisco, an inter-active PDF created for the San Francisco Municipal Railway best viewed at 150% or greater magnification. There%26#39;s also a link that will tell you HOW TO GET THERE FROM HERE. Among other maps and links on the page is an outstanding WALKER/BICYCLIST map that shows the steepness of our streets, a map of our CABLE CAR ROUTES, our 49-mile SCENIC DRIVE, and a superb map of GOLDEN GATE PARK.

Thanks all.....your advice is much appreciated.
