Where to Eat in North Beach?!

my mother and i are going to see Beach Blanket Babylon tomorrow and need to know a good restuarant near Club Fugazi, where it is playing. No price limit considered, just a short walking distance from the theatre. Thanks a lot!

Where to Eat in North Beach?!

Firenze by Night, on Stockton Street, is quite good and not far from the Fugazi Hall.

Firenze by Night . . .

. . . is at 1429 Stockton Street (Telephone: 392-8585; Facsimile:

421-5813).

In 1997, it was awarded Five Stars and Five Diamonds by an organization that is neither Triple A, Mobil, nor Michelin.

They kindly split our very nice salad for us.

She had squid served with vegetables and oddly prepared potatoes. The squid was only very tender rings of bodies, disappointingly nary a head nor tentacle.

I had quail also with vegetables and those potatoes. Most of the bird was moist but parts of it were dry but still edible.

Our vegetables were just right and the potatoes were quite good. They were sort of the stereotypical shape of a slice of bread, mostly white with yellow near the top. Tasted good.

The Italian personnel are friendly, humorful, and competent. They seem to enjoy what they do and we liked the way they do it. Our busser, appearing to be a Central American, was excellent! He ven

took our not-yet-empty bread basket to refill it. He also did not ask, my plate looking clean enough to return to a shelf, ';May I take your plate?';

The only unpleasantness was our waiter taking an order from an adjacent table by standing with his back to me with his rectum [Sorry. The software didn%26#39;t like the original word.] much too close to my nose.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and our glass of Chianti. The tab, with toke, was less than $55, a very fair value.

We shall return!

%26gt; Next time, try the gnocchi there. The owner makes it

%26gt; from scratch himself every morning. It%26#39;s very good.

She%26#39;s a former gnocchi freak. Her mother (an Italian immigrant) made them, as did she. She doesn%26#39;t eat them now %26#39;cause ';they%26#39;re too fattening';. She was, however, sorely tempted. Perhaps with your

intelligence, she might break down.
