I am planning a road trip in April starting from San Francisco 14 over nights.
We are starting in SFO (4) – YOSEMETE (1) – SEQUOIA (1) – DEATH VALLEY (1) – ZION (1) – BRYCE (1) – LAKE POWELL (1) – MONUMENT V. (1) – GRAND CANYON (1) - LAS VEGAS (2)
The questions I have are:
1. Is this realistic and travel good?
2. there is a road that connecting directly DEATH VALLEY to ZION without pass through Las Vegas
3. is it too many miles? How many?
4. We would like to take in a show in Las Vegas so do we need to book before? What is worth seeing?
5. What would be the best mall to visit close to San Francisco and Las Vegas
Thank a lot for all your coop.
travel infoCiao , For me your trip would be too much driving as you are driving everyday and only stopping at night. I would prefer to drive and then stay 2nights and then drive again.
Here is a sample of your first 3 destiantions after SanFrancisco. I used www.mapquest.com for these maps and directions.

The trip from YOsemite to Sequoia is only about 3hrs but the trip to Death Valley is about 7. You can put your other ideas in and see what it looks like yourself
The road I-15 goes through Las Vegas and then on up to Utah where Bryce and Zion are located.
You definitely should book tickets for show in Las Vegas .The Cirque de Soleil shows are very popular.
travel info1) It is a lot of driving but possible.
2) Not that I know of. The old atomic test area is in between.
3) Use mapquest. It is over 1000 miles I%26#39;m sure.
4) Yes you need to book the most popular shows in advance. The best are O, Mystere and LOVE all by Cirque du Soleil. Some people also like Celine Dion.
5) Las Vegas outlet mall on South Las Vegas Boulevard a few miles south of the Luxor. The Primm Valley Outlets in Primm, NV (about 40 miles west of Vegas).
You said: We are starting in SFO (4) – YOSEMETE (1) – SEQUOIA (1) – DEATH VALLEY (1) – ZION (1) – BRYCE (1) – LAKE POWELL (1) – MONUMENT V. (1) – GRAND CANYON (1) - LAS VEGAS (2)
Initial comments
1) Best mall to visit in San Francisco is downtown, at San Francisco Centre http://westfield.com/sanfrancisco/
2) Plan on travel times - it is about a day to Yosemite from SF. And how can you plan on a trip to Grand Canyon for just one day? It is a two day experience. I would drop Monument Valley.
3) Sequoia is best experienced backpacking - it is not readily accessible by car, and remember that even in April (like in 2006) huge snowstorms can occur.
Suggestions
1) Start at SF, 3 days, then on to Yosemite. It is a good 5 hours to there. Stay there a night. Drive north to Lake Tahoe - most mountain passes are closed, except Highway 50, so head there. Stay overnight in Lake Tahoe, or continue along the backside of the Sierras, and work your way over to Highway 395
3) The back sides of the Sierras are beautiful - like the Tetons in some areas, along Highway 395. View majestic Mt. Whitney (highest in continguous US) from your Comfort Inn room at Lone Pine, then go on to Death Valley from there. So try to make that a destination for a night.
4) Visit Death Valley, enroute to Las Vegas. Now in Las Vegas, depending on which night you are there, you must remember some nights, like Mondays, have no shows. In any case, you have to drive through Las Vegas to go to Zion. You could visit Las Vegas later in your trip as you suggested.
5) Plan a long travel day, over to Zion National Park, then Glenn Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. I am not familiar with lodging in that area. If you really want to, continue on to Monument Valley. You will have to figure the distances and time.
6) Approach Grand Canyon from top and east side, then head into the south rim area of the Grand Canyon. Arrive there, spend a full day, then leave the next morning 9so spend two nights) Spend at least two days there - lots of museums and walking, and the canyon is so mesmerizing at various times of the day.
7) From Grand Canyon, head back to Las Vegas. Book shows far in advance. Also interesting to see Hoover Dam. Forget the malls - you go for the experience along the main drag with plenty of shopping opportunities. Buy a good, current book on Las Vegas.
8) Return to SF area by travelling south to get to Bakersfield, then up I-5 to SF area.
