On public transportation, from Hollywood/Highland corner, can Santa Monica be reached by public bus? approximately how long to get there? and the fare for adults
Thank you
Hollywood to Santa Monica
On mta.net you can map out any bus route that you need before your trip. Print out a few routes and have them with you, they%26#39;ll come in handy.
One way to Santa Monica is to walk one block south on Highland until you get to Sunset Blvd, take the #2 bus (make sure it says UCLA or Westwood on the front) to Westwood Blvd. In Westwood (a neat neighborhood to browse around in for awhile) you then catch a Blue Santa Monica bus to SM.
The first bus is $1.25, or $3 for a day pass if you are going to be riding any other metro that day. The Blue bus is separate charge.
The #2 bus goes through West Hollywood and Beverly Hills neighborhoods, so the day pass is a good idea (just ask the bus driver and have $3 correct change)....you can hop on and hop off wherever you want, either on the way to Santa Monica or at night on the way back.
Hollywood to Santa Monica
The ride is about an hour and requires taking 2 buses (one after another). There are a number of routes that drop you in a number of different places in Santa Monica.
If you plan on taking at least 3 METRO BUS or METRO RAIL rides in one day (at $1.25 per ride) then buy a $3 DAY PASS which is good on METRO BUS OR METRO RAIL.
If you don%26#39;t have a street address in Santa Monica that you are going to, you can use landmarks like SANTA MONICA PIER as a destination while plotting your trip on MTA.NET (See the upper right corner of their home page for instructions on how to do this).
Good luck!
thanks for all the great info. If I took a cab, lets say to the Santa Monica Pier, from the HOllywood/Highland area, how much would it cost?
Depends on time of day and traffic delays , but I would say a taxi would be $45 - $60?
