Hi
Read in past posts that it%26#39;s a good idea to bring/wear a lanyard for your disney pass.
Does the disney pass (getting a 5 day one) just clip onto the lanyard via a hole already punched in the pass - in this case the pass would have to be made of hard plastic like a credit card OR does the disney pass have to first slip inside a clear plastic pouch which then is attached to the lanyard.
Thanks for any info
Lanyards for disney pass
The pass is paper, so you have to slide it in a pouch. You can buy them at the Disney Store in Downtown Disney. You may have to ask for them, I had a hard time finding them. Also, you probably only need one. We bought 2 but only used one and I wore it. If you are using a travel agent, some include the lanyards in the package. Ours did, but I forgot them.

I am not a fan of keeping your pass on a lanyard.
The main reason, would you walk around with $200 around your neck?
Most lanyards are designed to have the pouch come off the lanyard with little effort for safety reasons (Choking is not a recommended activity). I have heard many stories of folks losing their pass because the pouch separated from the lanyard.
I keep my pass in my wallet, along with any Fastpasses I collected that day for later use. I also keep my wallet in my FRONT pocket, as it is safer than in a back pocket (much harder for a pick pocket to access.
Thanks Darkbeer for your advice.
One thing, once you are inside the park, do you have to show your pass each time you enter a ride. ???
I presumed you had to, and therefore thought the lanyard thing was the way to go.
However if once your inside the park and you don%26#39;t need to show your pass again (constantly) I agree that the pocket is safter.
You need your ticket/ParkHopper when you first enter the park, and also you need it for re-entry if you exit the park and want to come back in, or visit the other park.
Also your ticket is needed if you want to get a Fastpass, you insert the ticket into a machine, and the FP is dispensed. The ticket is used to keep track, so they can limit the FP%26#39;s so more people can access the system.
Also, folks with Annual Passes and Cast Members need to show their Pass to get their appropriate discounts when they buy food and drink.
So the average guests needs to show their pass just a few times a day, BUT the scanning machines at the turnstiles and the FP machines require they be taken OUT of the plastic to be scanned.
Also, some families will send one person to get Fastpasses for the entire group, while the rest of the family does something else. It is a lot easier to just carry the ticket than a bunch of lanyards around their neck.
Lanyards with thick straps are great for Pin Trading, but that is the only use I recommend for lanyards in the parks.
I agree with Darkbeer- lanyards don%26#39;t seem very safe, and we had 4 passes in my husband%26#39;s jeans pocket with no problems at all. Not just is there the choking chance (probably minimal, but who wants to be the first one for big injury???) but if it catches on something and goes flying, you might not find your ticket again. I would think there%26#39;s very little chance of anyone picking your pocket, as you%26#39;ve already paid to get in, so it%26#39;s not much benefit to steal another one!
BTW, at the Disney Warehouse, I got some lanyard medals for about $2, which make great Christmas tree decorations! Wouldn%26#39;t wear the lanyard, but like the medals.
Thanks Darkbeer %26amp; cricket
From your information, I%26#39;ll forget the lanyard idea altogether and store them in wallet
Just to be difficult.... I%26#39;m pro lanyard, although I%26#39;m not sure that what I have is what you%26#39;re all describing.... I got one of those ones that didn%26#39;t have thick material, but kind of like black cord, and it had a 50th Disneyland anniversary castle metal thingy halfway up it. I put our passes and our fast passes in it everyday, and then wore it tucked inside my shirt. Was good, cause then I didn%26#39;t have to carry my bag with my purse all day. I always felt the passes were safe, and didn%26#39;t have any worries....sorry....!
If it is inside your shirt, that is different than just hanging around your neck.
I have seen entire families with lanyards. Do you want a young child to have a ticket worth over $100 around his/her neck? And if it is lost, then it can%26#39;t be replaced. You MIGHT get lucky if you place the kid%26#39;s name on the ticket, and someone finds it and turns it into lost and found, but that still takes a long time to get to the Lost and Found booth, and not everyone will turn it in.
I recommend that in most cases, have one adult hold onto all the tickets, and that person will get the Fastpasses for the entire group.
