Where shall I start snowboarding?

I have been skiing for 20 years and my daughter who is 11 wants to start snowboarding. I normally ski in Canada but might go to Lake Tahoe as easy from San Francisco where I just moved to. Where shall I go ? North or South Tahoe? I would like to be able to ski while she learns to snowboard. Being a huge fan of Whistler, BC, I am looking for the best part of Lake Tahoe. What are your views on that??

Between North Lake and South Lake Tahoe, I do not believe one can say one is better than the other - they are just different!

Your first trip, go to either of the two. The next trip, the other.

Both Squaw Valley at North Lake and Heavenly at South Lake will satisfy both of you.

Both offer fine runs for beginner snowboarders. Both have fine single black runs. Johnny Mosely at Squaw gave me more than enough with its rating of a single black!

Heavenly has Mott%26#39;s double black. Squaw has more bowls. Squaw is more price competitive. Heavenly has better scenery.

Of course, there are many other resorts, but I have not been to any others besides Mt. Rose. It is more distant, and is a smaller place.

More advanced and expert runs, but fewer chair lifts.

Flip a coin. Heads its Heavenly, tails its Squaw.

My husband has been skiing for heaven knows how many years. Our oldest son skis or boards depending on the snow, our youngest son only boards, his wife only skis. They are all happy with either Squaw Valley or Northstar. They like Alpine Meadows very much, but don%26#39;t think it will work for a Whistler fan. There are few amenities.

Prior to purchasing a home in the North Tahoe area, we tried both North and South Tahoe many times. We decided that the North Tahoe area worked better for us as a family.

We lived in Marin for a decade while we were checking out our Tahoe options. Why don%26#39;t you try a few different areas and see what works best for you? There should be many positives about each area. Enjoy researching Tahoe!

Sorry! Don%26#39;t know why there%26#39;s a double post.
