We will be staying at the Candlelight Inn for one night and I need recommendations on GREAT restaurants. Something very romantic and fancy that maybe requires formal attire....or something near it. I was looking at Auberge and it seems great, but I am looking for other suggestions just in case I can%26#39;t get reservations, and Auberge seems a bit pricey...just a little...so anything a little under its price range would be perfect
I will be arriving the end of Jan...and I don%26#39;t care much about the scenery or outdoor seating...since it%26#39;s going to be around 30 degrees outside, i think...but if anyone has any suggestions let me know!!!

La Toque is supposed to be very good, also in Rutherford. In St. Helena Terra is very nice and Domaine Chandon in Yountville is also very good. Have fun! :)

Napa Valley is a very casual, down-to-earth place, so we really don%26#39;t have much formality when it comes to dress codes.
There are only two restaurants in the entire valley that enforce a ';jackets'; policy for men: The French Laundry, and La Toque. Etoile (at Domaine Chandon) now only asks for ';casual business attire';.
You could literally show up in jeans at every other place, and be welcomed warmly.
That being said, there are *plenty* of visitors that will be ';dressed up'; at many of Napa%26#39;s restaurants-- but you%26#39;ll also see some pretty casual stuff, too, in these same spots (hawaiian shirts, golf shirts, shorts, flip flops, etc.).
Our recommendation: Read the restaurant reviews on the Napa Valley forums, then check out a few of the restuarant websites for ambiance, and give your first choice a call.
Or better yet, give the Candlelight Inn a call and have them do this for you-- Napa Innkeepers are famous for their expertise and friendliness in these matters-- and this service is included in the cost of your stay!
We hope you have a wonderful time. :)

Oops-- forgot to add: Terra (St Helena) used to also ask for jackets for the guys, but now also requests ';business casual'; attire. You will see lots of folks there dressed up, though.
