I know there is a route 30 Bus (I believe), that can go from downtown San Diego, into La Jolla. My question is, which stop would be appropriate to get off, to reach the ';shoping/tourist'; area of la Jolla, which I notice, is more inland, than the actual La Jolla cove area. it appears there is a stop I or K on the bus, can someone suggest the proper place to get off the bus to enjoy the village area?
La Jolla by public transit
La Jolla cove is by definition at the ocean. One block away from the ocean you will find your self in the';village'; area of La Jolla with restaurants shops etc. The bus stops at Silverado and Herschel(I don%26#39;tknow where you found those letters Iand K that you mentioned.)
when you get off the bus you will be in the ';village'; area and can walk around shops and then walk over to the cove.
The bus driver will know if you say let me off at the stop nearest the cove.
La Jolla by public transit
Hi Sun Lover - On the map, the K indicates where UTC - University Towne Center - a really nice mall is located, with lots of great shopping. That mall is actually in the city of San Diego. The G on the map - Girard, Hershel, Ivanhoe is where the Village of La Jolla is located - so that is where you would get off for the village.
Riffsmom - good morning, how are you? - the letters are on the transit map for Route #30 -
Thanks chissis . I guess I have never seen a transit map but we agree on the advice.
Thanks alot for the information, I look forward to visiting both San Diego and La Jolla in the summer.
I also just want to add that La Jolla is just a neighborhood of the city of SanDiego . It is not really a separate';village'; although we who live there say we live in La Jolla when asked. I guess it is just a habit.
I just thought it would be a nice place to spend a few hours walking around and taking pictures, and i heard there are good views from there. Can you recommend a nice place for lunch (mid-priced), casual atmosphere? do you know how far the Torrey Pines golf course is from there. That%26#39;s where the PGA tournaments are held from time to time I believe
Sun Lover the La Jolla ';village'; area is the G stop on the route 30 map. this is probably what you%26#39;ve heard of as the ';shopping/tourist'; area.
The I stop is the VA Hospital, not a shopping area. It is on the edge of the UC San Diego campus, for anyone wanting to go there. You can transfer to the 101 bus there to get to the Torrey Pines Golf Course, it%26#39;s stop 7 on the 101 route map (the VA hospital is stop 8). This bus stops at Torrey Pines Beach a few stops on from the golf course, well worth checking out. You can walk down to the beach from the golf course through Torrey Pines State Reserve for a couple of hours easy hiking.
Stop K on route 30 is University Towne Center, a shopping mall, but this is not the ';shopping/tourist'; area of La Jolla at least, I doubt that%26#39;s what you%26#39;ve heard about as such. You can get the 101 bus there also.
';My question is, which stop would be appropriate to get off, to reach the ';shoping/tourist'; area of la Jolla';
I think the La Jolla Cove area is the shopping/tourist area that you want....lots of nice shops and restaurants and scenic coast views etc. The place to get off would be: Time Point G: SILVERADO %26amp; HERSCHEL...ask the bus driver.
