what CAN we do?

me and my boyfriend are planning a trip to sequoia and kinss at the end of feb. i beleive were gonna be staying 3 nights. we will be driving there so we will have our car. i guess i was just wondering the kind of stuff was CAN do since there will probably be snow then. we dont really ski and were mostly interested in seeing the sequioas and exploring the beautiful scenery pretty much. any suggestions for what we should do while there? neither of us have ever been here so were totally clueless. thanks for any help!

what CAN we do?

If you go to the National Park Service web-site: nps.gov, you can search for this park and see all the things there are. Get their phone number and call them. It%26#39;s winter and very few visitors; they%26#39;d love to talk to someone. Ask your questions.

It may be miserably cold when you go. There will probably be snow on the ground. Next to the main visitor center is a wheel chair accessable trail through the big trees. I recommend this because the trail is paved and easy to walk on when there%26#39;s snow on the ground.

Some of the roads may not be open because of snow.

There are walks around the main groves, even in Winter. It is very beautiful in the winter, quiet and peaceful. Also if the snow is deep rent some snowshoes and go for a walk thru the woods. I%26#39;m not sure that you can get to Kings Canyon due to the road conditions.

The road down into Kings Canyon will be closed, so will the road back to Crescent Meadow and Moro Rock. You don%26#39;t want to climb the rock in winter anyway. The paved Trail for All People that Danny mentions is a good suggestion, there%26#39;s another paved trail at the General Sherman Tree, the Congress Trail that is a narrow two mile loop, not sure how it will be passable though.

Cross country skis or snowshoes would allow you to get around a lot more. You could ski back on the Crescent Meadow Road, but don%26#39;t try to climb Moro Rock, you%26#39;d slide off into oblivion.

The main road through the park, Generals Highway, is open except during storms, so you can drive from Giant Forest all the way to the Grant Grove unless it%26#39;s an actual storm. Which, it could be, so you need to be prepared, check the weather forecasts and bring winter clothing. A light sprinkle down in the lowlands can be a white out blizzard up in the mountains. You%26#39;ll need tire chains for the car too, they require them in the National Parks where it snows.
