Napa B&B -- Where to stay one or two nights?

I am traveling to Napa from San Francisco and have a couple of questions.

1. Can I do this in one day, meaning could I drive from San Fran. see some wineries in Napa and drive back to San Fran. that night? Of course we would have a DD driver.

2. If you think this would be too much could some recommend a B%26amp;B to stay at during the week in Napa for 4 people? What is the average cost It would be in early March.

Any help will be appreciated!

Spending a whole day in the Valley and driving back to the City is possible, but it would mean a bit of driving. In my opinion, I would rather stay the night after tasting wine all day. If you stayed in Napa for the night, you would have a much more relaxing time.

There are a bunch of good places to stay and they are all pretty much expensive. I cannot give any recommendations on which place is nicer except from the exterior. As a local, I don%26#39;t stay at any.

The average cost of a B%26amp;B in March would run about $200 per room per night (more or less). Weekends are a tad more.

This is for a B%26amp;B ';in town'; (where most of them are located). B%26amp;Bs in the countryside (vineyard or tree views, but you have to drive to go anywhere, incl eat) run a bit more, and have very limited availability, since Napa country Inns can only have 4-5 rooms per building.

As was pointed out earlier, some folks do try to stay in SF and drive in and out-- but you miss the real magic of the wine country by doing this. The thing that makes Napa and Sonoma so special is the wonderful sense of peace and relaxation that takes over once you%26#39;re here. If you%26#39;re zooming in and out, you miss it.

If you want to stay at a B%26amp;B or small Inn, you do need to book early-- Napa%26#39;s Inns typically only have 5 to 12 rooms, which means they fill up fast.

Enjoy your stay in the wine country! :)
