My aunt told me that years ago some roads on the way to DV used to be dangerous in the sense of there would be no gas station no place to stop nothing around for 50 miles sometimes. Is it true? Also you she told me that there would be no cell phone reception on the way. I was thinking to head there over the weekend but now I kinda got scared. Thanks so much for your help in advance.
Driving from LA to DV.. dangerous??
Don%26#39;t be scared. You should have no problem. However, be sensible and be aware of your car%26#39;s range on a tank of gas. The towns outside of Death Valley, such as Trona, will have gas stations as you get closer. It%26#39;s always good to fill up before you go into the park, since gas prices are higher inside. The park is big, so you may be getting gas inside the park, anyway.

Nothing to worry about. There are fuel pumps in Stove Pipe Wells and Furnace Creek and outside the NP but do as Betterthanbings said. Fill up outside the park because prices are very high inside the NP. From LA you might drive through Ridgecrest to the DVNP, enjoy and leave the park via Soshone to Baker and to LA again. If you are there this weekend maybe better make a reservation. Furnace Creek Inn is great but expensive, the Ranch less expensive and also accomodation in Stovepipe Wells and Panamint Springs. The Furnace Creek visitor center is some 275 miles from LA, depends where you come from of course.
Have fun
