We want to do trip of San Diego, L.A. nad the Grand Canyon.
Would 2 days be enough time in L.A.? It isn%26#39;t exactly a highlight but we figured we might as well being that we are going to be in the area....
What are some must see%26#39;s of L.A.?
2 days in L.A.- Is that enough?
Nope. L.A. is way too big and spread out and offers so much, two days is hopelessly inadequate. However, if that%26#39;s all the time you%26#39;ve got, how to make the best of it?
Here are my recommendations:
1) The Getty Museum in Brentwood - Even if museums bore you, visit here. The views are impressive and the architecture is good. You%26#39;ll get a great sense of place. Lunch on the patio on a clear day is great.
2) Third Street Promenade/The Pier in Santa Monica - Probably the epitome of Southern California on the beach. Very visitor friendly. Great for strolling. Venice Beach is also just south of here.
3) Old Farmer%26#39;s Market/The Grove at Fairfax %26amp; Third - Very successful mix of old and new. Great place for a casual meal at the market.
4) Disney Hall %26amp; the Cathedral in downtown - Iconic modern architecture. Be sure to visit the park on the roof of DH. Nice cafe at the cathedral.
5) Hit the Fashion District in downtown for some lively shopping. Don%26#39;t go on Sunday, since many shops close.
6) Chinese Theater in Hollywood - Excellent place to see a big-screen movie.
7) Drive Mulholland between the 101 and 405 freeways. Scenic drive with views of the city and valley. Plenty of places to pull off and take in the view.

LA is huge ... i suggest that you pick one area, and stick to it - ie, spend your time seeing things, rather than driving (or sitting in traffic).
suggestions:
-santa monica/venice - this could include a bike ride on the beach, the getty, venice boardwalk, abbott kinney, 3rd street promenade
-beverly hills/west hollywood - sunset strip, rodeo drive, LACMA, beverly center, melrose, the grove ... shopping and people watching and nightlife
-downtown- disney hall and cathedral, MOCA, the library, jewelry mart, fashion stuff, olvera street, union station ... but it can be kinda dead at night if you don%26#39;t go to a show.
enjoy!
Plan a Hollywood Day:
1) Go to Warner Brothers Studio Tour in morning.
2) Have lunch...lots of great places.
3) Get free tickets to an afternoon taping of a TV Show.
You can get them on-line on the web.
4) Go to Hollywood and Vine Shopping Center - Have dinner at one of the restaurants there (stays open late); visit some of the shops.
6) see the famous sites nearby
7) Go to Grauman%26#39;s Chinese Movie Theater for an evening movie.
Plan a Beach Day:
1) Start with breakfast on the Queen Mary
2) Visit the Long Beach Aquarium
3) Visit Venice Beach/Santa Monica spending the afternoon at the ocean.
4) Explore 3rd street promenade
5) have dinner at: The Lobster (good view of the ocean/Pier area.
6) Explore Santa Monica Pier.
Lots more possibilities especially into theme parks suc as Univeral Studios, Disneyland, California Adventure, Knotts Berry Farm, day trip to Catalina, sporting events, Newport Beach/Laguna Beach, museums such as the Getty, etc.
