Considering La Jolla over SD for hotel and definitely need informed advice. My husband and I are flying in from Buffalo,NY and will have a rental car. We%26#39;d like a quiet, comfortable place with breakfast and parking near to restaurants. Since we don%26#39;t see the Pacific every day we thought a beach location would be nice, but have read so many bad reviews I%26#39;m discouraged. If hotel is not on the beach but a better all around place to stay, I%26#39;m open to advice. Ar there places in Sn Diego which meet our criteria. Moderate price budget, would like around $200 or less. We will be visiting zoo, art museums and enjoy walking to get the feel of a place. Help appreciated as I have been loking at hotels for days and feel overwhelmed.

First of all La Jolla is part of the city of SanDiego and is about 20min from the airport. When are you coming? There are several places that will have water views of SanDiego Bay which are pretty but not be at a beach. I f you are coming now or in Feb even though it will be warmer than you are used to it will still be cold for actual swimming and with a car you can easily drive to a beach for walking, tidepooling etc.
The trick will be to find both free parking and breakfast.
Have you looked at the Glorietta Bay Inn%26amp;suites. It is across the bay from downtown SanDiego inCoronado. I thas a small town feel but is very close to everything, reached by a short bridge south of downtown.
There is also th eL aJolla cove%26amp;suites which has great views.
YOu can find bayviews at Humphreys or TheBayClub.
TheSheraton%26amp;Marina which is near the airport but overlooks SanDiego Bay has a great deal on www.travelzoo.com click on California.
It%26#39;s only$105 I don%26#39;t always recommend it but with a car and at that price you may find it a good deal.
I am not sure whihc hotel reviews you have read but sometimes people expect 5***** luxury at 3*** prices.

Have you looked at the La Jolla Bed %26amp; Breakfast Inn. It%26#39;s right in the Village of La Jolla on Draper Street, just a few blocks from the ocean, right in the middle of all the shops and restaurants, but on a quiet street. My boss and his wife (who are very picky) have their friends stay there when they visit, so I know it%26#39;s clean and quiet or they would never go there. It%26#39;s in just a lovely location.

Riffsmom gave you some other great ideas, but if you want to stay right in La Jolla, this would be my first choice.
