On a Monday night, how much would a tax cost from the Hollywood/Highland area into Beverly Hills, for dinner. Can someone suggest a nice steak or italian restaurant for dinner in Beverly HIlls on a Monday night. nothing extravagant, just a nice place with decent portions and good prices.
Taxi cost from Hollywood/Highland to Bev HillsWhy do you want to go into Beverly Hills for dinner when the best restaurants are near Hollywood/Highland? BH has only a few restaurants, period. But Hollywood has restaurant after restaurant. If you want to go there just say you were there, then we need to know what you mean by good prices - everyone severs decent sized portions, so don%26#39;t worry about that.
Where, specifically, are you staying? Oh, a taxi would cost about $25.
Taxi cost from Hollywood/Highland to Bev HillsThanks for the reply. Well we are staying probably at the Renaissance Hollywood hotel, and I just wasnt aware if there were restaurants near by, or if it was better to go into BH for dinner. I%26#39;d prefer to stay in the area and walk somewhere for dinner. I read that the area near the hotel is somewhat ';seedy'; and some boarded up stores, and so not sure after dark what to expect. We love steak, but dont want to pay exorbitant prices, so a place that might serve Steak, Italian food, a fun place and not snotty or high-end, near that area that could be recommended?
thanks alot, we only have one night in Hollywood before heading home the next day. Thanks
Hi.
I%26#39;d be curious to know where you read that the area was ';seedy'; and had boarded up stores. (Why would you want to stay in such an area?).
The center of Hollywood (where your hotel is) has gone through a major urban renewal process over the last 12 years or so. The hotel (a 5-star property) and the adjacent multi-million dollar Hollywood %26amp; Highland Complex (with 70 shops and restaurants in all price ranges plus the Kodak Theatre -- host to the Academy Awards) is one of the premier sites for travelers to Los Angeles.
A few blocks from your hotel is a great Italian restaurant (the oldest in Hollywood with wonderful food and a ';relaxed environment';) called Micelis. The address is: 1646 Las Palmas
Here%26#39;s their website: http://www.micelisrestaurant.com/
The map on their website isn%26#39;t terribly helpfful for you. From your hotel. walk 1/2 block south to the corner of Hollywood %26amp; Highland. Cross over to the far side of Hollywood Bl and turn left. Walk 2 blocks to Las Palmas. Turn right. The restaurant is on the left side of the street. Enjoy.
Continuing with traditional Hollywood fare, Musso %26amp; Frank is the oldest restuarant in Hollywood. Here%26#39;s a link to some reviews of the restaurant: It is known for steaks and chops
…citysearch.com/profile/54405/los_angeles_ca…
Same directions as for Miceli%26#39;s except stay on the side of Hollywood Bl closest to your hotel. Walk eastbound just past Las Palmas and you%26#39;ll see the restaurant on your left.
Have a great time.
Seriously, tell us where you saw the bad reviews about Hollywood. We%26#39;ll need to send those people an email!
There are also restaurants in the Hollywood and Highland complex itself. The Grill has good steaks, as well as a variety of other food. Vert is a Wolfgang Puck restaurant with a mixture of types of food, including steak and pasta. They should have their menus outside the restaurant so you can check prices, or look online. There%26#39;s also California Pizza Kitchen for a slightly more casual place. I don%26#39;t like the Italian restaurant on the 3rd floor of Hollywood and Highland, or Twist, in the Renaissance.
Both Miceli%26#39;s and Musso and Frank%26#39;s are ';old school'; Musso and Frank%26#39;s makes awesome martinis and the youngest waiter is probably in his 50s and has worked there for 30 years or something. So, not cutting edge ';California cuisine'; but still good, and with decent prices.
Thanks for all the great info re restaurants in the area.
Oh, the place I read the review is as follows, here on Trip Advisor,
the review is dated Dec 17, 2006 and the headline is as follows:
Hotel OK, but surrounding area disappointing';
Trekman, Minneapolis, Mn.
That will not change my mind about staying in the area. I really look forward to it, and love a hustle/bustle feel to an area, and I think we%26#39;ll feel right at home in the Renaissance Hotel and enjoy all the fun things around us to see and do.
One more question: if you could suggest a 1 or 1.5 hour tour , would you do the ';Visit the MOvie Stars Homes';, or would you do the general ';Trolley Tour';. we dont want to be on a tour for longer than that time. I think I saw the list of tours on Starline or something like that.. and I see they pick up right around the walk of fame which is convenient for us.
I would say that review was from someone who doesn%26#39;t get out much. He complained about tourists in front of the Chinese theater! Shocking, I know! Tourists, such as himself, at a tourist attraction! He complained about ';ladies of the evening.'; Not on Hollywood Blvd in the last 10 years or so. They were probably women going to a club or something. He said it wasn%26#39;t the glamorous area as portrayed in the movies. Yeah, that%26#39;s the magic of television. This is Hollywood. It%26#39;s not Gated Community Happy Shiny Rich People Suburbia.
The Renaissance Hotel is very nice and safe hotel. The surrounding area is safe.
As far as which kind of tour to take, it has a lot to do with what interests you. The tour of the ';Stars'; homes involves driving by homes with large walls or shrubbery which largely obscure the house, in many cases. However, if catching a glimpe of a celeb%26#39;s house is exciting to you then, you should take this tour.
Another interesting series of tours are the REDLINE tours (redlinetours.com)/ These are escorted walking tours that enter some of Hollywood%26#39;s most histroric buildings (many that are not ordinarily open to the public).
Have a great time!
that review exaggerated a bit. as mentioned earlier, there are no hookers around the hotel. and i can%26#39;t think of any boarded up shops unless they%26#39;re talking about construction.
you will see homeless, there are cracks in the sidewalk, and there are souvenier shops. and there are performers on hollywood boulevard.
