was just wondering if you can take back packs so it would cut down on food cost in the park does anyone have any thoughts on cheap food in the park? thanks
can you take back packs inside disneyland ca
Yes, you can take a backpack, but it will be searched. Don%26#39;t try to bring a four-course meal. If you bring some snacks and some bottles of water (plastic not glass), you shouldn%26#39;t have any problems.

What we did to eat a bit cheaper was go to Redd Rockets in Tomorrow Land. It%26#39;s a cafeteria, so you can see the meal before you order it. We shared a pasta plate and garlic foccacia between 4 of us (2 adults, a 10yo and a 7yo) and it was plenty for the middle of the day. So check out which food shops are cafeterias, as you can see the volume of food you%26#39;re about to get. (The pasta was nice, too.)
TEBell got it right- you can load it but try moderation. Toss it in a locker at the entrance and then head out into the park, then check out the main street area when you come back for lunch- you can get (your kids ;) )on the rides in a hurry out in the park and then enjoy people watching, perhaps ride the train around from wherever you are at lunch back to the entrance. I would at least unload your sandwiches in a locker with some water, and maybe keep the BP with you with a bag of munchies and a couple water bottles so you can break it out in line if you have young ones. I might also suggest either hitting a McDs or eating snacks before entering because your kids (assuming here you have them) will be on hyperdrive and will eat everything you brought within the first 90 minutes...
We usually eat over at Tomorrowland as well if the day gets long-
not too bad to eat one meal at the park, but it adds up quickly to no souvenirs if you have to eat three meals...
Have a great time!
My tip is load up on a good big meal. Cutting down on food costs means avoiding purchasing snacks and sodas. In New Orleans Square, The French Market is a cafeteria type restaurant with very good large entrees at reasonable prices. You can split your entree, and it will come with a salad and roll. You can refill your sodas while eating there. Added bonus, a nice view of the River and close to a couple of rides.
Stashing food in a locker may seem like a good ides, but at times it can be a big hassle trying to get down Main Street to the lockers. And the lockers will cost you something.
A pack back for each kid with an apple, a bottle of water or fruit drink, and another little snack can be good to carry around to and dig into when the hungries hit. You will need to put a few other things in the backpacks. (A sweater is good.) Because bringing food in is not allowed, officially, but a couple of snacks among some other things in the backpack are generally overlooked.
There are water fountains in many areas and if you take bottled water you can refill your bottles.
Yes, you can take backpacks into the parks-in fact, when we were there last month and last summer, we took one in with us every day! They do search them-but how thoroughly seems to depend on the security person. They actually seemed more interested in checking my mother%26#39;s coat one of the days. We%26#39;ve never had any trouble.
We left the backpack in a locker, which you can re-open as much as you want all day, which is nice, as some places charge you per time you open it. We tend to be the all-day type that are at the parks all day (usually til near closing), so it was great for putting stuff we might want later-sweatshirts, spare clothes if we got soaked on a ride and didn%26#39;t want to be wet all day, ponchos, sunscreen, water bottles, and yes, a lot of snacks.
When we went last month, my sister was on a special diet from her doctor, and she needed to bring certain foods in with her. We didn%26#39;t have any problem with bringing anything in. We have also taken in Capri Sun pouches, granola bars, fruit cups, jerky, cracker and peanut butter packages, all sorts of small stuff-especially snacks we could eat in line when the lines were long in the summer.
There are some tables on a side alley/street off of Main Street near the lockers that we saw many people eating at-most of whom appeared to be eating food they%26#39;d brought with them-and no one bothered them or minded. It is actually a nice place to take a break, as the tables have umbrellas for shade and the store fronts are cute and entertaining-they have recorded comments/dialogues that play from the various ones. Another nice place to take a break is on Tom Sawyer%26#39;s island-usually a little less busy and crowded.
As far as inexpensive food in the park, I don%26#39;t really have too much experience with that-we usually buy some sort of treat, but not usually very healthy food. We often get the Dole whip or an ice cream bar or a hot dog. There are fruit stands that sell fruit and drinks and pickles. I would check out Mousesavers (www.mousesavers.com) for advice on food or check one of the websites that post the menus of the different restaurants or snack counters. I think AllEarsnet.com has menus, and I%26#39;m sure which others do.
Hope this helps. Have a great time! We did-we all came home exhausted, but happy!
If I bring a backpack into Disneyland will I be able to wear the backpack onto the rides?
It is difficult/uncomfortable to sit on many rides with a backpack on. You can usually stow it down by your feet, but on some rides it can get wet down there.
Jazzyteacher,
Yes, do try to bring a backback that is lined or waterproof so that you can put it down without having some water effect what is inside. On the fast rides everyone in my family has a habit of wrapping one strap of the backpack around one leg. That way it doesn%26#39;t get thrown around. My nieces told me long ago that most of their friends were doing that too.
Indiana Jones has a storage space in front of each seat large enough for a back pack. I can fit mine in there and it is usually full. Star Tours has a smaller cargo area under the seat. There is a really cute film prior to boarding that tells you about that. If you really try you can cram a big backpack into that cargo space. But, on my last ride I had to give up because I ran out of time trying to get it in there! So I just kept it under the seat with my legs close up against it and it was fine. I don%26#39;t think the motion of that ride causes large objects to shift much. The Davy Crocket Explorer Canoes is the biggest problem for me. You can wear your backpack on the canoe, but someone is sitting behind you and I always feel like mine is in their way. Also, you are rowing on the ride and extra weight across your shoulders and back doesn%26#39;t help! They will not watch your backback for you at the dock, I asked about that. Last summer I decided to put it on the floor of the boat and it did get wet, but it is lined so everything was fine. Rowing felt a lot better!
Something waterproof and washable that you don%26#39;t mind getting dirty is great.
Thanks for all of your help.
Just as a side note, we visited Universal Hollywood in November and was told by the coach driver that you can take backpacks in there but cannot take any food or beverages (not sure about babyfood) into the park. We did not have any but lots of families did and had to leave it on the bus and maybe add another $100 onto their day!
