Exploratorium

My husband is an engineer and science nut. I thought it would be fun to check out the Exploatorium. Would it be fun for adults? We%26#39;ll only have a couple hours there before heading to alcatraz, so is it worth the $26 it will cost us to get in?

Thanks!

Exploratorium

Your husband (and you!) will LOVE the Exploratorium! The only problem you may have is not enough time there-you can literally spend several hours there to see everything. Before I visited I thought it would appeal more to kids, but I (40-something!) LOVED it. There are tons of fun experiments and things to see and do-highly recommended. Check out the gift shop too. Maybe you could revise your schedule so you could spend more time there? Have fun!

dbsk8dance - I highly agree with the last poster. Spend as much time there as you can. Plus the Marina area around the Exploratorium is beautiful, both with the nature (the bay and the recently restored wetlands) and the incredible mansions.

So far, so good.

Oh, yes! But yer a-headin%26#39; for trubbl.

And that%26#39;s it!

Probably not.

My standard advice is to be there when the doors open and plan nothing else for the day as, although it%26#39;s easy to enter, it%26#39;s extremely difficult to leave.

You are forewarned!

The exploratorium is great!

However, another idea if you have more time (and since I am not sure about your schedule here) is go to the Lawrance Hall of Science in Berkeley. I have always loved that place and not as noisy as the Exploratorium can get.

If you are going to the Exploratorium, you%26#39;ll want to spend more time there than a couple hours...think you are pushing it with the Alcatraz tour.

I don%26#39;t love the Exploratorium. Sorry!

We have a smaller version on one in Boise and I don%26#39;t care for that, either. It%26#39;s interesting, but it%26#39;s hands on and I just don%26#39;t know where those hands have BEEN! And if you happen to hit there when there are several busloads of kids, ... there you are, swimming against the tide to stand in line to learn something new about gravity. :-)
