Hi, I wanted to say thank you to the local experts, and everyone who provided me with so much information to make my recent trip to SD so wonderful.
I came with four friends and we stayed at the Island Palms on Shelter Island. We were in the new Del Mar building in a Villa. It was perfect for us, up and down stairs with two king size beds up and a pull out couch down, three bathrooms, full kitchen, upstairs balcony and downstairs patio. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The housekeeper kept the rooms very clean. There was an inroom safe too. The location is great and very convenient to all area attractions. Shelter Island is located in the harbor with bay views in front and a marina in the back. It is a very relaxing atmosphere.
Attractions that we visited
We took a harbor cruise on our first full day there and wandered around the waterfront by the Midway and over to Seaport Village.
The second day we went to Viejes Casino.
The third day we spent most of the day at the zoo and then off to Del Mar and a hot air balloon flight, which was wonderful. California Dreamin was the company and they were very professional. We loved it.
The forth day off to LaJolla, and Torrey Pines and these areas are breathtaking.
Day Five, Three were off to Rosarito Beach and the other two off to Coronado Island and checked out Ocean and Mission beach.
Day seven back to La Jolla and tried to kyak but were not able to get all the way out due to the high surf, but had a wonderful time, visited Mount Soladad. I would highly recommend going there to everyone who is in the area. There are sweeping views to Tijuana and on a clear day they say you can see Catalina Island. It is beautiful beyond words. They are installing plaques on a cement wall, it is dedicated to Veterans who have passed away. It is very spiritual and moving. I am a nurse and care for Veterans in Boston.
After we left the La Jolla area we headed over to the Hotel Del and ate dinner there and broused in the shops. It is a beautiful hotel with a spectacular beach.
Our last day there we visited Old Town and did some shopping ate and then flew home.
We had a wonderful trip and we all love San Diego.
I am so greatful for all the information that I got from reading this forum, it helped us to plan a perfect trip for five women, who needed a vacation badly.
So I want to extend my appreciation and a sincere Thank You to the local experts from SD and all the people who have posted.

I love vacations with friends, they%26#39;re the best! Thanks so much for your trip report - I%26#39;m so glad you had such a great time. I%26#39;m particularly glad you enjoyed the balloon ride - I see them over my house all the time - maybe I waved at you as you went over! Come back again soon!
Thank you Chissis,
I bet you did wave to me and it was at you suggestion that I picked California Dreamin and the flight from Del Mar and I remember you saying that you see them inflating the balloon near your home. Thanks it was a wonderful experience to float over such a beautiful area.
The crew was very professional and work very hard to inflate the balloon and it was something to see. The pilot was experienced. Three of us went and there were two couples with us. One of the couples were celebrating their 8th anniversary and the other couple became engaged while in flight. It was a special and memorable
experience for all of us.
We loved it.
We certainly appreciate the local experts, you all do such a wonderful job and are very dedicated.
Thank you, have a wonderful weekend.
