I am planning a trip in Sep 07 for me and my husband. Has any of

you heard of or been to the Castle Inn on Van Ness. The rates are so reasonable.

The reviews are generally quite good. There was already a link posted so check the reviews there.

Just so you are aware, it is slightly removed from Union Square and Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf, though the two are easily accessible by bus and/or cable car a couple blocks away.

The Castle Inn is a motel just so you know. If you are looking for anything remotely fancy, this is not the place.

My wife and I returned last Saturday for a four day stay at Castle inn. ( A really nice hotel is a very respectable and friendly neighborhood. A great local tavern is on the corner at Polk (Kelly%26#39;s), good restaurants, deli, Walmart, and grocery stores in a two block area near hotel. Marshall, the mgr., at Castle Inn told us where to go for the best burger, best Chinese...and all his recommendations were correct. Room at Castle Inn was clean, great bed, nice frig and microwave - just the best for location and price. We went based on reviews read in TripAdvisor; and we were not sorry.
