Yosemite-DV A few questions?

We will be here in July and plan to drive from El Portal to Furnace Creek in 1 day. The route we are looking at is through Yosemite NP on highway 120 Tioga Pass-395 to Lone Pine-136-into DV on190 to Furnance Creek .

1.How long will this take?

2.What are the driving condittions like?e.g road surfaces, frequency

of gas stations,amount of traffic.

Yosemite-DV A few questions?

Hi

1. 300 miles and take 7 hours for it.

PS: You are missing a lot of awesome sights only driving. The Tioga Pass road is great and deserves a lot of stops. Mono Lake, June Lake loop, Bishop and Lone Pine with its Alabama Hill and Whitney Portal road is worth to stay for the night. You also probably won%26#39;t have time to visit Stovepipe Wells dunes. If you can, make it a 2 days drive. You will not be disappointed.

2. Good roads, all sealed. Gas stations along us 395, Stovepipe Wells and Furnace Creek

Note 1: Bring water

Note 2: In july you probably one will see Europeans driving through DV at 120F. Traffic in DV will be low.

Forgot: Fill your tank in Lone Pine. Fuel in DV is expensive.

Thanks for the advice and tip about the petrol.

I agree with Tet. Hwy 395 is a beautiful drive and it would be a shame to hurry it up. It runs at the foot of the eastern Sierra which seem to rise straight up from the ground for thousands of feed. Lone Pine is a good overnight. It sits at the base of Mt Whitney.
