Rockin Roller Coasters...

Hey just wanting to hear some feedback from anyone who as rode the ';Rockin Rides';. I seen a video of space mtn. and must say it does not impress me much at all. I love space mtn. just the way it was! It is true that they are only like that till April right? Let me know! thanks

Rockin Roller Coasters...

We just got back from DL, and let me tell you - Space Mountain was incredible. The soundtrack is just killer, and it made the ride seem as though it was going faster than it really was. Plus, the way they%26#39;ve staged the lighting on the ride is so cool because you can see at some points and it almost looks like you%26#39;re going to hit something. Totally fun. My husband and kid went on Rockin%26#39; California Screamin%26#39; and they loved it as well. In fact, they went on it twice, one right after the other. I asked my husband about the music and he said it was good, but that he thought he would%26#39;ve liked the ride without it as well.

I love all the old mainstays at DL, but the change to Space Mountain is a great improvement IMHO.

I wasn%26#39;t impressed with either Rockin%26#39; version. My biggest complaint, you can see the track while riding Space Mountain, which ruins the ride (IMHO).

Here is a small snippit from an article relased tody.

Note John Lasseter is the chief creative officer at Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Feature Animation and the Principal Creative Advisor for Walt Disney Imagineering. Ed Grier is President of the Disneyland Resort.

%26gt;%26gt;Last Wednesday John Lasseter rode both Space Mountain and California Screamin%26#39; back to back with Ed Grier in tow. Space Mountain got a barely passing grade from the executives, but California Screamin%26#39; didn%26#39;t fare as well. After a valiant attempt to get the Screamin%26#39; audio equipment working on all the trains after years of spotty service, the scratchy sound track and complete lack of any special effects really lets California Screamin%26#39; down.

The fact that Screamin%26#39; was even involved is simply an outgrowth of the original Rockit Mountain concept that WDI installed on Space Mountain during it%26#39;s long rebuilding in 2003-05. The folks in Marketing took that idea and turned into a way to shill their annual 2Fer1 tickets and insisted that WDI do something to California Screamin%26#39; as well. They shouldn%26#39;t have bothered. Both are disappointing - mostly because the music just doesn%26#39;t synch at all with the rides - but the DCA coaster suffers the most. Disneyland always fails when it tries to be hip, and it succeeds when it remains true to what it is. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are simply not the answer here.

Park aficionados will want to hit these two coasters in their Rockin%26#39; versions while they have the chance, because if the initial ride response this past week is any indication, the Rockin%26#39; gimmick may go the way of Light Magic for 2008. %26lt;%26lt;

I should state that I do provide content for MiceAge.com.

It looks like it is just a temporary change.

Personally, I am not interested in seeing a classic ride like Space Mt. tweaked. IMHO, any ride in DL that was imagineered correctly should not be changed as much as this. And for Disney to shed light on the magic that they have done is like having a magician show you how he does he best tricks. The only ones who should see Space Mt. track are castmembers and safety personell.

What%26#39;s next? Will there be rap music in It%26#39;s a Small World? Will the kiddies see what Never Never Land looks like with a few lights on?

I also have a problem with the commercial for this promotion! It is so annoying. And, to me, once again just in my opinion, a blatant grab for our pockets.

lol, and I%26#39;m on the side of, I liked it better...with the new lighting and track views.

i agree with darkbeer, it made space mountain much less enjoyable because you can see everything. that%26#39;s the best part of space mountain, and now that you can see where you%26#39;re going it%26#39;s kind of boring.

Went on Space Mountain yesterday with the new Red Hot Chili Peppers soundtrack - in my opinion it%26#39;s a huge improvement! I loved it! They also added a bunch of different lighting effects - yes you could see the track in a few places but I didn%26#39;t feel that it took anything away from the ride. Like another person stated, it seemed to be going faster than usual. The fact the the park was pretty empty and we didn%26#39;t even wait 5 minutes to get on the ride made it even that much more enjoyable!
