Hello
I am going to La on the way home from NY with my mum and we are wanting to go to Disneyland AND California Adventure Park but only have 1 day. A lot of the tour companies offer 1 day trips but you can only go to 1 park.
Does anyone know of a tour that gives you admission to both? And that takes you there from LA?
Also, it will be August when we are there so do you think this is achievable or are we dreaming?!
Thanks
1 Day Park Hopper tour from LA
Grayline offers such a tour at:
grayline.com/Grayline/鈥?/a>
but it%26#39;s expensive: $142 per person.
Keep in mind that since you can buy a 1-day Park Hopper Ticket at the DL website for $83.if you took the tour, you%26#39;d be paying $59 per person (or $118) for the 1 hour bus ride between your hotel and the Parks.
For $118, you could hire a car (which probably wouldn%26#39;t cost more than about $80, pay for gasoline and parking and you%26#39;d still have money left over for snacks and souvenirs.
Or...
You could take the train from downtown L.A.%26#39;s Union Station (either the National Train Line: Amtrak.com or the Regional Train Line: Metrolinktrains.com. Tickets for the 35 minute ride to the Fullerton rail station are between: $ 5.25 %26amp; $14 per person, each way (depending on the day of the week. train line used and whether it%26#39;s a senior (pensioner) fare). So, worst case, the train would cost $56 plus you%26#39;d have a short taxi ride to DL ($10) and the cost of transferring to Union Station in the morning (between $1.25 per person, if you%26#39;re hotel is near a metro rail station -- the metro rail system connects to Union Station -- or a taxi ($20 max).
So, between $70 and $90, (or less, if you qualify for cheaper rail ticket), you could go on your own to the Parks, come and go when you pleased (there would be no tour bus to catch!) and you would save some money.
Hope this is helpful.
Have fun!

In August you will only have time to do one park. DCA is less crowded and easier to ';do'; in one day but I find it blistering hot in the summertime with much less shade than DL. How old are you and your mom? Are you more into traditional Disney stuff (DL) or more into thrill rides(DCA)?
Thanks for your help so far. I%26#39;m 20 and mum%26#39;s 44 and we don%26#39;t mind going hard at it all day.
Probably more into the thrill rides but since we%26#39;re coming so far we%26#39;d like to see the original and typical %26#39;Disney%26#39; stuff.
If we get the fast trak passes we could probably manage. Being there from 9am till 10pm seems like quite a while?
I agree with Vicki that experiencing both parks in one day would be extremely difficult. The parks are packed in August.
If you really want to hit both, I%26#39;d recommend hitting the top 3 to 5 rides in DCA first thing and then skipping over to Disneyland proper. Disneyland tends to be open later over the summer (until up to 1:00 a.m.) so you%26#39;ll have more time to see everything.
Also keep in mind that DCA%26#39;s three best rides (IMO) - Soaring Over California (the best of both parks); California Screaming; and Tower of Terror seem to be at the three extreme corners of the park.
I think we will give it a go - we have from 9am to 10pm.
I can definitely rule out the tower of terror - there is no way i%26#39;m getting on that!
Hi miss manda,
You%26#39;ll be exhausted the next day, but it will be worth it!
If you arrive right at 9am, you should be able to hit both California Sreamin%26#39; %26amp; Soarin%26#39; and be out of the park before noon. This includes a little time to walk around some of the other parts of the park. If you want a terribly fattning %26amp; delicious lunch, try the corndogs just beside Mullholland Madness...good stuff!
If you arrive in Disneyland around noon, take advantage of the lunch rush %26amp; I suggest starting on the TomrrowLand side of the park. (Grab a fastpass for Matterhorn before doing so.)
Keep in mind though, you can only have one fastpass at a time. You are not able to collect another fastpass until the one you have expires. Also, in August, the lines can be up to 2 hours wait, especially for the popular attractions.
Plan your visit well. Decide what it is you MUST see at Disneyland %26amp; that will help determine your day. You can%26#39;t miss Fantasmic, it%26#39;s the best! And if you can spare an hour, you should really have dinner at the Blue Bayou located next door to the Pirates of the Carribean. (But you%26#39;ll need to book a reservation early as the time slots fill up fast)
Have a great time!
