Nice and affordable hotels w/free parking - anyone?

I%26#39;m thinking about staying in SD for 3 nights in Sept. Would like to get some info about nice, cozy and affordable hotels with free parking not too far away from the beaches. The hotel should be clean, in a safe area and has at least a 3 star rating! The hotel should also be near restaurants so we can grab something to eat! Have never been inSD before, and I%26#39;m really looking fwd to my stay. What else should I plan to do there, in addition to SeaWorld? SD is my last stop on a round-trip in Cali. Was thinking about spending some time in the beaches there and just relax. Is that a good idea or should I maybe head to Oceanside? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to San Diego. There%26#39;s so much to do here, it%26#39;s really difficult to list it all in one post, but a few of the highlights are SeaWorld, that you already know about, the San Diego Zoo, which is located in Balboa Park www.balboapark.org

Downtown is a fun area to explore, with the Star of India (tall wooden sailing ship) and the USS Midway www.thebigbay.com

There%26#39;s Cabrillo Monument at Point Loma, with the great views and history - a nice visitor%26#39;s center. http://www.nps.gov/cabr/

Coronado is a lovely town with an awesome beach, and a lovely area to explore http://gothere.com/coronado.htm - if you want to go to the beach, this is a great choice.

Old Town is interesting, with lots of interesting history and the beautiful Mission San Diego de Alcaca, which has beautiful grounds and spectacular views: http://gothere.com/sandiego/oldtown/

You might enjoy the Old Town trolley (bus) tour that takes you to many of the places listed above, and you can get off the bus, explore more, then get back on the bus.

For hotels, there are many choices, including beach areas of Coronado, Mission Beach/Pacific Beach, and La Jolla. Some charge for parking, some don%26#39;t - but if you could tell us your price range (affordable is relative), then we could help you further. In the meantime, you might look at www.sandiego.org for more information as to what to do and where to stay.

Thank you so much , chissis, for your fast and informative response.

I%26#39;ll def. be looking into all the places you mentioned.

I%26#39;m thinking about hotels in the price range $ 100-150/night/room. But I will pay more if I have to, as long as it%26#39;s clean, comfortable and well-located.

Thanks:)

YOu could try the Ocean Beach Inn, Ocean Beach is a local neighborhood that has a surfy /hippy feel. Few hotels but easy to walk to restaurants and free parking.

The Ocean park Inn is a tPacific Beach which has many more hotels and tourists, but also restaurants and locals come to walk, bike on the cement path along theocean. This hotel also has free parking.

The Holiday InnBayside is near downtown but has free parking. There are only a few restaurants in walking distance but with a car more are 5min away. beaches and other tourist sites are a short drive.
