Looking for a decent place to stay...maybe Lone Oak Lodge?

My wife and I are looking to take a trip out to San Francisco/Monterey/Yosemite around Labor Day weekend in September. Does anyone know of any moderately priced places that are decently affordable to spend the night at for 2 or 3 nights in Monterey or the surrounding area? I had seen something about the Lone Oak Lodge which didn%26#39;t seem too bad for location or price. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The reviews for Lone Oak Lodge give a mostly favorable review. It should be fine for your Monterey visit. You might also consider Asilomar Conference Grounds, which is open to the public and located in a very nice area of Pacific Grove. Asilomar is nestled in a forest like setting and the beach is just across the street.

Monterey Bay Lodge and Sand Dollar Inn are both moderately-priced and more-than-decent. They may be slightly more pricey than Lone Oaks, but I%26#39;d be inclined to choose either of them over Lone Oaks. The Asilomar suggestion is a good idea, too. One bit of advice: book soon!

Thanks for the advice. Asilomar state beach was definitely on our ';to do'; list for our visit as well as a trip down to Carmel and Point Lobos. We%26#39;re primarily coming for the scenic views being that there isn%26#39;t a whole lot to stare at in Southern IL except for corn fields. Any other points of intersest that you can advise would be great too.

One place that people often overlook is Carmel Valley. It%26#39;s easy to get caught up in the amazing ocean views, but the valley has its own beauty. I suggest that you drive out Carmel Valley Rd (off of Hwy1) to Carmel Valley Village--about 25 minutes. The views of the valley, especially after you pass mid-valley, are gorgeous. When you get to the Village, have lunch at Cafe Rustica (take a left off CV Rd onto Pilot Rd. Then take the first right--Rustica is on the right.) The food is excellent and they have patio dining. You%26#39;ll love Point Lobos--don%26#39;t forget your camera!

Don%26#39;t miss the Monterey Bay Aquarium and 17 Mile Dr.

Both offer amazing scenery.... and no corn in sight!
