My family plans to visit San Diego for two days following a two-week trip to Hawaii. What sites might best interest my active boys, ages 12 and 14? We%26#39;ll be staying at the Super 8 Bayside in Little Italy and enjoy walking, but will have a car for transportation as needed.
On one day we%26#39;ll go to either the Wild Animal Park or San Diego Zoo. Is one recommended over the other? The photo tour at the Wild Animal Park sounds great, but I think the cost is prohibitive for us. Are my boys too old for Legoland?
Following San Diego, we%26#39;ll head to LA (again, any suggestions there?) and onto Northern California.
Thanks for your thoughts!
Suggestions for two days in San Diego
1. too old for lego land
2. The zoo has something for all. We did not go to animal park.
3. Six flags is a good roller coaster park in the vacinity of LA
4. Where in N CA? Russian River has good rafting day trips in the summer.
Suggestions for two days in San Diego
Regarding no. 4: I think we%26#39;re good once we get to Northern CA; we%26#39;re originally from Sonoma County and have family in Napa. It%26#39;s Southern CA that%26#39;s foreign to me!
They are definitely too old for Legoland. They might like to rent sea kayaks and explore the sea caves near la jollacove or explore the clamer waters of MissionBay. I fyou come during the summer there is a night tripwhere youcan watch the fireworks at Sea World from the kayaks See :www.hikebikekayak.com
They might like to visit the USS midway in the harbor or rent skates and/or bikes to ride on the cement path at Pacific Beach or through MissionBay Park.
There is an old fashioned wooden roller coaster at Pacific Beach.
YOu can watch the hang glider at the TorreyPines gliderport and/or go tandem with an instructor.
Hike in TorreyPines State Park. Go to the Imax theater in Balboapppark. go to Dave %26amp;Busters a n older teen/yupyy version fo ChuckECheese with pool tables, video games and simulators. The food is not bad for adults either.
Thanks for your ideas. These sound fun for all of us. Any preferences for the Zoo vs. the Wild Animal Park? Past discussions sound like people are equally enthusiastic about both.
Your question about ';zoo or wild animal park '; has sparked many a previous argument so I am not going to add to that . You can read all the old discussions by putting aquery in the box under the green stripoe. I will only say that paying the extra money(yes I know it is a lot) for the photo safari makes it a very special experience!
Change your holet plans if possible! We just stayed at the Super 8 Bayside and it was appalling. The motel is under construction and half the front of the building is missing. There is plywood at the end of the balcony where the building is gone- I would never let children near this place. Plus it smelled like mold everywhere. I wouldn%26#39;t stay there again if you paid me. There is a Motel 6 a couple blocks away, try that, or ANYWHERE else!!!!
