I would like to drop my mom and sister off at a winery or two that are close together, then take my 2 year old and 4 year old to Train Town to keep them occupied. Does anyone have suggestions on where to take my mom and sister that is not too far from T.T? Also, are there wineries that are within walking distance from each other or shuttles to other nearby wineries? How long does a typical tour take? Does anyone recommend Train Town? I was trying to make everyone happy for the day! :-) Thanks !!!
Train town and Wineries...
I%26#39;ve only been on a few Winery Tours and they really don%26#39;t take that long. Most of the Wineries have beautiful patios and/or picnic areas. You might consider getting a picnic lunch, letting you mom and sister go on the tour (30 minutes max) plus some time to buy if they want and you occupy the kids outside for the tour time.
Never been to Train Town, can%26#39;t help you there.
Have fun.
Train town and Wineries...
Train Town always gets mixed reviews. Some families love it and return again and again. Others hate the waiting in line and the sometimes sketchy service provided by some of the staff. You should enter ';Train Town'; in the search window of the Sonoma Forum and read the different comments. There are a number of wineries within a very short distance of Train Town altho%26#39; not generally considered walkable unless one wants a fairly long walk. Gundlach Bundschu, Buena Vista, Sebastiani, Bartholomew Park and Ravenswood are amongst them. I would think that one of the wineries, if your mom and sister take a tour, do tasting, walking around and shopping, will occupy enuf of their time while you take the kids to Train Town. Tour lengths vary and are usually bet. 30-60 min. Check with the individual winery. If you haven%26#39;t already explored the Sonoma Plaza, another plan would be for your mom and sister to walk that area where they%26#39;ll find tasting rooms in addition to interesting shops and historical sites--and lots of nice cafes and restaurants.
