Universal Studios Hollywood Tour With Free Transportation

Hi, Has anyone taken this tour, and if so do you get picked up from your hotel? My husband and I are staying in the Marina Del Rey area, which apparently is a bit out of the way to use public transport easily, and I would like to cause my husband as little stress as possible, after all it is his holiday too.

Many thanks local experts for your time and invaluable information, I feel like I know you well after spending so much time researching our visit to Los Angeles, and in fact our first trip to America.

Any help would be most welcome

Thanks

Universal Studios Hollywood Tour With Free Transportation

According to the Universal Studios website there%26#39;s a list showing companies in LA that provide transportation from various parts of LA.

One is Amazing LA Tours which shows they offer FREE transportation but when you look at their prices it says adults are $95 which seems to be a little high. They are based out of Santa Monica.

Another roundabout way of getting there would be to get to LAX from MDR and take the Union Station FlyAway bus for $3 one way to Union Station in Downtown LA. From there you%26#39;d catch the Red Line subway and take that to Lankershim/Universal Station. Exit that and then take a free shuttle to the main gate.

Seems like alot of hopping on and off but that%26#39;s all I can think of right now. Maybe some of the LA experts can help you better.

The ';free transportation'; option is provided for visitors staying in hotels in Orange County only (in Anaheim -- near Disneyland -- and in Garden Grove).

There are a number of coach tour companies that will pick you up at your hotel in Marina del Rey (MDR). (Sometimes, you might have to walk to a neighboring hotel to meet the coach if your hotel is a small one).

Here are a few of them:

1. Grayline Tours: (2 different tours -- both include a tour of the city as well as admisssion to Universal and return transfers. The first tour provides standard admission; the second tour provides VIP admission which gives you preferred seating at attractions and ';front of the line'; passes so that you can get on the rides quicker.

2. Starline Tours:

Tours, 5,6,6A and 6B all offer different features. (See the link above).

3. All Los Angeles Tours:

(Type UNIVERSAL in the search box in the upper right corner of their home page and click GO. They, too, offer a number of different tours to Universal.

Compare these tours to making your own way to Universal (via hire car) and buying admission from the Universal Studios website)

Good luck

(The last option: change your hotel!)

Thank you both for your help, I am looking into the Alllosangelestours.com at the moment, believe it or not the price has gone down since we last looked at it.

Unfortunately I had already booked the Deluxe Tour of Los Angeles, or I would have gone for the multiple trip choice.

I realise that for the sightsI am staying in the wrong area, but I will be spending the weekend in the Marina area. Any advice on where to go along the boardwalk, beach or anywhere within walking or cycling distance would be most welcome.

Again many thanks

If you cycle southbound on the bike path, you%26#39;ll pass through Playa del Rey (after pedaling over a windy isthmus) and into Manhattan Beach. There%26#39;s a great lunch place there called Sloopy%26#39;s at 3416 Highland Av (Highland Av runs parallel with the boardwalk / bike path (either 2 or 4 blocks inland, depending on where you are in Manhattan Beach). Great Burgers and yummy homemade milk shakes as well as veggie choices.

FYI, from Marina del Rey, going southbound on the bike path is a little bit different than going northbound. The northbound route can be accessed at the Venice Pier. The southbound portion turns inland at the pier, going east on Washington Bl. It turns into the Marina and follows Admiralty Way into the parking lot of the local library and through a ship-repair area and finally onto Fiji Way which comes to an end. At that point, the bike path continues down a path and splits into two parts. To access the beach route, turn right which will lead to the aforementioned insthmus. Playa del Rey will be the first town you then pass through. Manhattan Beach will be the next town after a deserted area (which is, actually the western approach to LAX).

Remember to get locks for your bicycles so that you can lock them and go exploring in the various towns or if you should decide to do a little sunbathing.

Have fun!

Once again many thanks
