Visiting California

Hi!

My fiancee and I are visiting California for the first time this August for our honeymoon. We are travelling throughout the state for 12 days. We are starting off in San Francisco, then heading up to Napa then down the coast on #1 and then (if time permits) checking out Yosemite. We%26#39;re thinking 2-3 days in each area. First, is this a realistic itinerary? Second, I need to book a hotel in S.F. We don%26#39;t want to spend a ton of cash on %26#39;honeymoon suites%26#39;. i%26#39;m thinking b%26amp;b%26#39;s in the downtown area. Thoughts?

Visiting California

Are you super interested in wine and wine country? If not, then I would suggest a day trip visit to Napa from SF, as it is only about an hour north of the city.

I love ocean scenery and think it is much more interesting driving south along Hwy.1 past the Monterey/Carmel area down along the Big Sur. You can cut over to Interstate 5 at Cambria and head over to Yosemite for the last few days of your trip before returning to SFO for your flight home. Spend 3 or 4 days in SF (with side trip to Napa), 2 or 3 days traveling the coastal hwy. (one or two nights at Tickle Pink Inn in Carmel, very romantic!) another night or two at Monnstone Beach in Cambria (very romantic) and the rest of your time in Yosemite (at least 3 nights). Sounds like a wonderful trip...I am sure you will both love it!

By the way, if you want to skip Napa, there are plenty of wineries in the Paso Robles/Cambria area.

Sorry, I meant MOONstone Beach...go to www.moonstonebeach.com for more info.

Petite Auberge or White Swan Inn for San Francisco.

Green Gables Inn, Seven Gables Inn or Old St Angela Inn for Monterey.

(Actually, these B%26amp;B%26#39;s are in Pacific Grove, which is literally just around the corner from Monterey).

Tickle Pink Inn mentioned previously is an awesome property, but comes with a high price tag. The views, though are absolutely amazing! Even 1 night there would be worth the expense.

Loftchuk want to go 芦down the coast on #1禄

Without Napa, gingerale52 said 芦if you want to skip Napa, there are plenty of wineries in the Paso Robles/Cambria area.禄

I regard that as sound advice.

芦Yosemite禄

From Monterey 鈥?About 200 miles, 3.7 hours

Cabrillo Highway (1) toward Santa Cruz

Highway 156 to Prunedale joining Highway 101 toward San Francisco then Highway 156 splits through San Juan Bautista and Hollister to

Highway 152 through the Pacheco Pass to Highway 59 to Merced to

Southern Yosemite Highway (140) through Mariposa and into The Park.

You%26#39;d better check NOW to see if there is any overnight accomodations still available in Yosemite:

The above is the concessionaire for all lodging inside the park

Here%26#39;s an alternative for the Yosemite West area, which are inside the gates but not technically in the park:
