When do Public Schools in LA start?

We will be in LA from Aug 22nd to Aug 26th, just wanted to know if i go to Universal that Friday (23rd) if I should expect a lot of people...Will most kids be back in school then or no?

When do Public Schools in LA start?

Although many elementary schools are on year round schedules, many will be ';off track'; at that time. I think most districts have a limited amount of tracks in session in late July and August. Most tracks in most schools are in session the week after Labor Day. The downside of going to an amusement park after Labor Day is there are usually extended hours in the summer, along with more entertainment.

July seems to be a busier month at most amusement parks than August, but there is always an upsurge of attendence right before, and surrounding Labor Day. Also, if you don%26#39;t want very hot weather it would be good to wait until mid-September. This year our summer is forecasted to be even a hotter summer than last year%26#39;s.

If you can arrange an earlier trip, mid-June should be nice for weather and crowds. Many kids don%26#39;t get out of school until the third week of June.

When do Public Schools in LA start?

Choosing a week-day vesus a week-end is better (however Universal City Walk area) will get crowded Friday night. We%26#39;ve gone in the summer and best thing to do is get there when the park opens and immediately (do not stop at any other ride, etc.) and immediately go on the backlot tour. Then see Waterworld. If you do this on the Friday when it opens, you%26#39;ll have a pretty good day of it. You can also buy front of the line passes which helps to get better seating. If you can get there when it opens (there are restaurants on City Walk to have breakfast at), you can see the main attractions and have a good day.

By noon and by afternoon on Fridays it will get much more crowded.

By the way, some schools in other areas are in session by mid August. It helps some - but with so many living in Los Angeles trying to get the last great thing in before they go back to school - most amusement parks stay crowded till end September. Yes, most kids are back in school earlier, but what happens, is that parents with kids under age 5 travel in September and amusement parks stay crowded for that reason. Universal is lghter, but Disneyland gets more traffic from unde age 5 crowd in late August,September.
