Hello, I%26#39;m just starting to look into locations for a nice anniversary getaway. We would like a hotel with access to a beach, but also within distance to see sights and enjoy ocean view drives. Any suggestions? Thanks! We would arrive there August 30th and depart on Sept. 2nd.

The Hotel Del Coronado is located on the beach of Coronado Island and is both lovely and romantic. However, it is a bit isolated from the rest of San Diego county; therefore, the pace is more sedate. A short drive takes you to downtown (and Gaslamp District), Balboa Park and our famous zoo.

The La Valencia is old world charm and in the heart of La Jolla. Traffic is a bit of a pain but once you are parked you can easily walk to the beach, great restaurants and plenty of shopping.

L%26#39;Auberge is a beautiful resort in Del Mar which is in the heart of that city and within walking distance of the beach, shops and lovely restaurants. This is an affluent area of San Diego and is busier than Coronado but not as congested as La Jolla. However, it is much farther away from the airport and the traffic on the Interstate-5 is awful during peak driving hours.
