Travelling to San Francisco early July and flying back to Scotland 14 days later. Prepared to do a lot of driving!
What do we need to see?
Musts are SF itself, Yosemite Nat Pk, coastal drive down to LA, San Diego?, Las Vegas and Grand Canyon.
Any help and suggestions for our itinerary would be gratefully received!

Where are you flying home from? I ask because you could easily spend 2 weeks doing SanFrancisco and the coastal drive and Los Angeles and Sandiego with Yosemite thrown in. Once you add Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon (which are in 2 different states-Nevada %26amp;Arizona respectively)unless you fly home from LasVegas or Phoenix,Arizona you are really planning a loooong trip.
Without stopping the drive from Los Angeles or SanDiego to LasVegas is about 5hrs and from Yosemite it is closer to 8.
So you could fly into SanFranciscofor 3days
drive down the coast to Monterey,2days
keep on along the coast toSanta Barbara 1nightor go inland to Yosemite 2nights
then to Los Angeles 2-3nights
if Disney is on your list then Anaheim 2nights
if not then on to SanDiego for 3nights
then to Arizona for th eGrandCanyon 2nights
then end in Las Vegas and fly home or continue throughDeathValley to Yosemite and then back to SanFrancisco.
OOOPS too many nights.
See what I mean . It is easy tospend lots of time because California is VERY large.
Driving along the coast fromSanFrancisco to SanDiego takes about 10hrs without stopping.Just some ideas-happy planning!

';SF itself, Yosemite Nat Pk, coastal drive down to LA, San Diego?, Las Vegas and Grand Canyon'; is a lot of miles of driving.
You might want to consult maps.google.com to get a sense of how spread out these places are.
Having said that, 14 days are a lot of days. But, you%26#39;re coming at a busy time. Yosemite will be crowded, as will the coast drive from SF to LA. The Grand Canyon and Las Vegas will be hot-to-very-hot.
I%26#39;m not trying to discourage you, but you need to be prepared.
I guess if I were doing it, I%26#39;d go SF--%26gt;LA--%26gt;SD--%26gt;GC---%26gt;LV---YNP--%26gt;SF, in either direction. That%26#39;s 7 days of driving, with not a lot of time for siteseeing on many of those drives. For instance, SD---%26gt;GC is going to take you at least 8 hours, plus stops. However, if you like the desert, it%26#39;s a scenic trip!
I`m drive on average 1,000 miles per week so the driving itself doesn%26#39;t worry me. What I%26#39;m concerned about is missing something that I shouldn%26#39;t! Any help in this respect would be appreciated.
It%26#39;s impossible to know what you ';shouldn%26#39;t miss'; if we have no idea what you%26#39;re interested in...besides driving.
