We will be coming to San Diego for the first time March 20th.
We don%26#39;t have any idea of where to stay. I know we are planning to go to the zoo and renting a car. Is there a hotel close by the attractions which is not too expensive. Looking at between $100-$150 per night.
Thanks,
Joann

With a car you have more options. There is an area called Shelter Island on th enorth side of SanDiego Bay with several hotels like Humphreys and the Best western Island Palms,.They have viewsof the bay ,free parking etc. It will be about 8min to downtown and perhaps 15 min to the zoo.
There%26#39;s the OldTown park area with motels like La Quinta and th e Oldtown Inn or Courtyadby Marriott .It is aobut 15min north of the zoo and 10 min from Seaworld an dmaybe 15-20 to a beach.
There are also inexpensive motels onCoronado which is across the bay from downtown and reached by a short bridge. It has a small town feel, main street etc. and abeautiful beach.
There%26#39;s Pacific Beach or Ocean Beach which have inexpensive motels (not fancy)Look around this sit ea little and read about some of the hotels and see which area sounds interesting to you. It willnot be far to drive anywhere. We live in the neighborhood of La Jolla an dmy husband says it takes us 20min to get everywhere.

Which attraction would you like to be closer too...the beach, downtown, Sea World, the Zoo, or a centralized location? Are there kids in your party...ages? These might help us recommend a place to stay?
The Red Lion Hanalei Hotel is centrally located in Mission Valley. You can reach many attractions from there and it should be in your price range. It%26#39;s on Hotel Circle North and close to the freeways. If you want to know more, click on my name to get to my profile and see my review.
You may also want to see if the Holiday Inn On the Bay in the downtown area has any specials for your dates.
