Help A Photographer from San Jose Please

I want to play tourist in San Francisco with my camera. I can catch BART from Fremont and I know it can take me right to the Embarcadero (I want to see the Ferry Building and the Tuesday market).

I would be doing this trip on my own and I%26#39;m not as adventerous as I used to be. Would you help me with some directions/suggestions please:

I think I read that you can hop a cable car directly towards Pier 39/Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf? Is that correct?

Also, if I am at the Embarcadero, do I recall correctly that it is an easy walk to North Beach? I remember a beautiful church in that area also.

I enjoy photography of historic buildings, carousels (need to do the pier 39 one) and anything else that strikes my fancy.

In addition, can you make suggestions for fun/not terribly expensive places to eat in the areas I have mentioned. Also, along the waterfront are there other places I should look for?

I sincerely appreciate any suggestions. I love the city and I need to conquer my fear of doing these things alone.

From BART, exit at the Embarcadero stop, but don%26#39;t take the cable car. That won%26#39;t get you to Pier 39.

Take the F-Line historic streetcar that runs down Market Street, which runs past Pier 39 all the way to Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf. If you come up from BART in front of the Hyatt, there is a F-line platform ACROSS the street, heading in the direction of the Ferry Building. Fare is $1.50.

It%26#39;s not a bad walk from FW to North Beach, but you will get your exercise. The church you%26#39;re thinking of is Ss Peter and Paul Church on Washington Square.

There are many places you can eat in this area. You might want to stop in a deli and simply eat at Washington Square... if it%26#39;s warm enough. Poke around and see what strikes your fancy. For fun, I like Caffe Macaroni, but it%26#39;s at the far end of North Beach, towards the Financial District. You needn%26#39;t go that far. There are plenty of other places.

To go back to BART, you can grab a #30 Stockton bus that goes through Chinatown and Union Square. You%26#39;ll see Stockton Street in North Beach. You get off just past Union Square, where the #30 crosses Market Street. The Powell Street BART station has stairs on either side of Market.
