meeting other backpackers

I%26#39;m 21, female and travelling alone around the main coastal Californian cities and also its national parks in February. I%26#39;m hoping to meet and share experiences of each place with other travellers along the way. Any tips on how to make sure this happens? Can anyone reccomend reliable websites to find travelling companions?

When my son was your age and traveled alone he met many others by staying in hostels. Most everyone staying in those places are young travelers.

Go to the Fodor%26#39;s Thorn Tree forum and you will find more backpackers than you could ever imagine.
