Hello everybody!
Can anyone help?
I would like an estimate for a vacation travelling aound the West Coast..... concerning food.
Nothing fancy....
Breakfast :probably a full breakfast in the morning (eggs hashbrowns, toast and coffee) in small roadside diners.
Lunch: A hamburger or a picknick lunch with items bought in a grocery store, maybe once in a while a cheap restaurant...
Dinner: Steackhouse restaurant or similar. Nothing fancy, just standard american cooking..
Travelling around California, Arizona on the road (small towns etc)
does about 25$ per day/ per person sound reasonable? Or should I count more...?
Many thanks
Need Help with a approximate food budget
I would budget more like $40 (including 15 percent tip which is not included in the price of the meal). There are cheap restaurants offering steaks but the quality will be pretty low at those places.
Bon Chance!
Need Help with a approximate food budget
It is always better to budget more just in case. Many times ,if you stay in motels, they will include a breakfast-cereal,fruit,pastry sometimes fruit or waffles.
In a restaurant a tip of at LEAST 15% is expected. Our servers get taxed by the government on an estimated amount of tips whether they get them or not.
Buying groceries is a very good idea for lunch. Most motels and many hotels have a refrigerator in your room and some even have microwaves to reheat food. By the way they will also have a coffee pot but the coffee won%26#39;t be wonderful.
Also the portions served in our restuarants are very large. It is considered normal to take home the food you do not finish. Just tell the server and they will bring a plastic container for you .
I fyou have a credit card then you can also use that to pay.
Thanks for your replies...
I actually meant 25 euros as a daily food budget for four and not 25 dollars. So that brings me closer to your estimates. I%26#39;ll keep a bit more (credit card) just in case.
Regards
