Yosemite touring plans- July

Hello,

I%26#39;m looking for some advice regarding a trip to Yosemite, mid week in July. We will be spending 10 days in California and plan to start with 3 nights in Anaheim, 2 nights in Yosemite, 2 nights in Napa/Sonoma and 3 nights in San Fran. For the Yosemite portion of the trip, I was thinking of leaving Anaheim early morning and staying in Oakhurst that night. We would visit Mariposa Grove that afternoon. We would have the next day to see the sites and am considering staying in the Groveland area that night since we will be driving to Napa the next day. I had also considered staying in El Portal that night since that would make it easier to visit Yosemite again the next morning before we leave.

Any thoughts on this plan or recommendations on lodging would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Taylor

The idea to stay in Oakhurst or Fish Camp is good. You don%26#39;t mention a budget for the loding so I%26#39;ll just say I%26#39;ve stayed at Tenaya Lodge several times in July and it%26#39;s a wonderful place.

I%26#39;d stay in El Portal so you can easily visit Yosemite the next morning or make a quick getaway on 140 anyway if you decide against it. Yosemite View is a good choice. It%26#39;s right on the Merced River.

I have stayed in the valley at Yosemite Lodge which is also a good choice if available. I have not provided a recommendation for any place I have not stayed so maybe you could get other opinions from people who have stayed other places.

You might consider getting lodging closer to Yosemite than Oakhurst for your first night if you are going into Yosemite that afternoon. This will lessen your backtracking to get ';home'; and then into the park again the next day. Else, it sounds like a sound plan.

Have oodles of fun!
