Park Manor Suites?

My wife is looking at this place to stay. What does everybody think?

Thanks Ken

Park Manor Suites?

The location of Park Manor is excellent - an older rehabbed building in the wonderful residential area of Banker%26#39;s Hill - near downtown, near all the restaurants of Hillcrest, literally right across the street from Balboa Park. I%26#39;ve eaten at their restaurant a couple times, and the food was always good. The only downside that is a factor for some people is that sometimes the clientele are gay because of the proximity to Hillcrest. That wouldn%26#39;t be a problem for me, but some people have an issue with that for whatever reason. If you don%26#39;t have a problem with that, then it%26#39;s a good choice.

Park Manor Suites?

Bankers Hill is a lovely expensive neighborhood. My daughter used to live there and all she could afford was a ';box'; they called a studio apartment!!. We always enjoyed visiting her there. It was very convenient to walk to Balboa Park and to restaurants. My husband and I felt very comfortable there. It is certainly NOT at the beach like your first request mentioned. I have not been inside the hotel but have passed it many times. We have been meaning to go to the piano bar that they have. It is certainly good value for your money and would be more like visiting a real neighborhood .

';Sometimes?';

Kenmart: Just be advised that there is a major happy hour event every Friday night at the Hotel in what they call Top of the Park. It is very festive -- I love it, but you may not.

It is a nice old property. The owner died around a year ago and the new owners have been pumping some money into the business. I haven%26#39;t seen any rooms, so I can%26#39;t comment on the impact. But it is lovely semi-residential neighborhood, adjacent to Balboa Park for some sightseeing, morning walks, runs etc. There are several nice eateries within 5-6 block walks.

Not a bad option at all.

I%26#39;ve only been inside a 2 bedroom suite, but it was beautiful and roomy (and relatively affordable, I%26#39;m told). It%26#39;s definitely an older property, so if you choose to stay here be prepared for the quirks that come along with that, but the location%26#39;s great!

I stay at The Park everytime I am in San Diego. It is an old quirky hotel, reminicent of an old manhattan apartment building, which it really was at one point. I love it. The proximity to downtown/Gaslamp district and Balboa Park and zoo cannot be replcated. LOTS of excellent restaurants of all budgets and great views from the roof where breakfast is served to top it off. I really wouldnt stay anywhere else, especially for the money.

Yes there is a gay clientele. No it is not a place where it gayness is flaunted obnoxiously. I personally have seen very few gay people during the week as it is mostly foriegn toursists and families due to its proximity to all things tourist. If the mere sight of gay people is an issue you may not want to stay there, but really, its SoCal, you will see gay no matter where you go.

I cannot recomend this place enough if you dont mind a little %26#39;flavor%26#39; with your experiance.
