wild animal park vs out of africa wildlife park in Arizona

My family will be spending 5 days in San Diego (7-1 thru 7-6 and then 5 days in Sedona Arizona. We are trying to plan our itin. and I am wondering which wild animal park would be better. My husband and I have been to WAP in San Diego when we lived there. We would love to take our son there. However, we have also seen information regarding the Out of Africa Park in Arizona. I do not want to do both, and would love any opinions as to which my 10 year old son might enjoy better.

Sorry I cannot help you as I have never heard of the park inArizona. perhaps try asking on the Arizona forum.

I live in Arizona and I have previously been to the park in San Diego. I am planning to go to the Out of Africa park here in the next week or so. I know many people who have been to both parks, and so far, everyone I have spoken to prefers Out of Africa. The main reason seems to be that while the park in San Diego has a larger variety of animals, the park here in AZ allows much closer contact between people and the animals.

The habitats in San Diego were impressive (and closer to what you%26#39;d actually experince in nature), but so large that they mostly just allowed the animals to do what they do best--hide. The park itself boasts of it%26#39;s size, and if you%26#39;d like to just spend a day or a half day, you can probably see more animals at Out of Africa. So here it depends on what you%26#39;re looking for, exhibits that are more natural, or to have an up-close and personal experience with the animals.

Another thing to consider is that while the ticket prices are comparable, the admission to the San Diego park does not include some events/attractions, but the ticket to Out of Africa is all-inclusive. It seems you get more bang for your buck w/ the AZ park.

I think I%26#39;d recommend Out of Africa, but I%26#39;m sure your son will love either park. Me personally? I just can%26#39;t wait to go and feed a giraffe!

I can only add that whichever you choose try to get there early before the heat drives all those critters into their shady hideaways I liked the WAP in San Diego but it is pretty wide open- I remember as a kid going somewhere with grandparents where the animals were at your car windows- I think even the Big Cats. Theres a thrill!

I will seek out the Out of Africa -Sedona is nice- pretty much that whole area is beautiful.

PhX003 and OzCalifornia thank you very much the information. I really appreciate it. I really enjoyed the Wild Animal Park when I went there years ago, but I think my son would love the up close interaction with animals at Out of Africa. Again thanks for your advice.
