yosemite camping with young kids

I am trying to find a family friendly camp site for a family with a 6, 5 and 3 year olds. We are currently booked at Curry Village, but the mixed reviews are having me rethink the population density related issues. Can anyone suggest a place that has a camp feeling outside of Yosemite that might be appropriate in mid-July?

I have been looking at Berkley%26#39;s Tuolumne Camp and the KOA Mariposa camp. The Bug Rustic Mountain resort is getting mixed reviews and seems to be better suited for older kids. We will be traveling from Wisconsin and therefore want to bring as little as possible with us.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Touloumne Meadows is a lot of fun with families. They have yurts with cots and linens. It is very quiet and peaceful with easy hikes for all. You are an hour drive from the Valley floor though. This usually has to be book a year in advance though.

You might also want to look into Evergreen Lodge which is outside the North West entrance (near Hetch Hetchy). I had issues booking their tents with them, but I know several families who have stayed in their cabins and loved it.

If you are able to get reservations at Berkeley Tuolumne Camp, by all means do so, especially with kids that age. We have taken our family there every summer since our children were born and it is a perfect family vacation. The only downside is that is so enjoyable in and of itself that you may not give Yosemite its due.

My second recommendation after that would also be the Evergreen Lodge, which caters to families and has some great evening programs.
