We%26#39;re thinking of walking the GG Bridge from the San Fran side to Sausilito. After crossing the bridge are there restaurants and cafes close by (within walking distance)? Where is the ferry located to ride back across the Bay from Sausilito? Is it within walking distance of the bridge? Thanks .
Walking GG Bridge....
Sausalito (Restaurants - Ferry) is about 2 miles from the end of the Bridge.

Downhill!
Thanks for the replies. Downhill? We can do that :).
Be forewarned that the 2 miles into Sausalito from the GG Bridge is a narrow winding road with no sidewalks until you reach Sausalito. You will also be sharing the road with the many bicyclists who rent bikes in FW and ride across the bridge and then down the hill to catch the ferry back.
The ferry can be found pretty far into the town itself- you would descend down the road in to town (about a mile I%26#39;m guessing) then wind your way down to the waterfront on Bridgeway where you%26#39;ll walk along the waterfornt for a while(very nice views) then continue until the area where the city park is located.
We%26#39;re used to walking three to three and a half miles without stopping to rest in hot weather.(we live near Houston). I think we could do that especially if we stop in Sausalito for a break before we go to the ferry. I really appreciate the insider input - let%26#39;s us know what to expect.
Didn%26#39;t I read recently that there is a way to walk to Sausalito without using that road? It had something to do with getting under the bridge and following the shore around, as I remember.
This may help. It is possible to go under the bridge and descend via Ft Baker, less threatening. Check this thread

Girasol%26#39;s suggestion is a much more pleasant route. You%26#39;ll still be walking along the road for the last half mile or so but the first mile and a half will be much more scenic and safer!
From the scenic overlook on the north side of the bridge, find the stairs that take you under the bridge and to the other side then just follow the road that goes down the hill to the water.
